Wanted to share–new movie talking about Highly Sensitive People, that so far is only available live (virtually or in-person) and only on September 10. Virtual tickets are $20 and then I think you/friends get access for 24-hours. Here’s the link “http://sensitivethemovie.com/.” I plan to get access to a copy so if it turns out I can share the link/access I get on the day-of I would do that. Not sure if it works that way or not. Message me if you have interest.
More personally, for me, I really identify with a lot of the descriptions and suggestions of the book and have explored whether I am a “highly sensitive person.” I have definitely felt some of the overwhelm as well as some of the wonders of “sensitivity” throughout my life and learned about ways to help, including through the book below. I wanted others to be able to explore this too. You might also check out the book even at a library. I found it useful and ended up buying a copy. Also, for me it’s not just the trait or innate sensitivity, I guess there are other aspects perhaps more “spiritual” one might say I’m exploring and choiceful as well as the exploration of the idea of some of this being innate to only some people and to my being one of those people. And, I also believe that a lot of these characteristics, including intuition, are something all people might have access to. So I think there’s a complexity that this also opens the door to. I am still in definite exploration and I feel very grateful for all the HSP discussion opens up for me and the sense of understanding and possibilities.
A bit more about HSPS: “In her national bestsell[ing book], The Highly Sensitive Person: How to Thrive When the World Overwhelms You, author Elaine Aron [who identifies as an HSP] defines a distinct personality trait that affects as many as one out of every five people. According to Dr. Aron’s definition, the…(HSP) has a sensitive nervous system, is aware of subtleties in his/her surroundings, and is more easily overwhelmed when in a highly stimulating environment. But the key quality is that, compared to the 80% without the trait, they process everything around them much more—reflect on it, elaborate on it, make associations. When this processing is not fully conscious, it surfaces as intuition.”
Sending loving well-wishes to everyone!
